Spring Makeup Tips

Spring is a time of rebirth and rejuvenation, and that couldn’t be truer than in 2021. While we are still in the midst of a global pandemic and while we must continue to be cautious and responsible, there is a growing sense that things are returning to normal-ish.

And if that in combination with warmer and longer days does not make your heart rejoice, well, then…

And part of spring is spring cleaning. We open all the windows to let the fresh air in. We clean out closets and put away heavy sweaters and snow boots. We fill bags to donate to thrift shops. And we should also be cleaning out our makeup bags.

Spring is a great time to sort through your makeup and purge those expired items. Most of us have a product at the bottom of our bag that has been there for years. And each time we look at it, we imagine a possible time when we will want to wear it. Open that item and make sure it is not hardened or discolored. Nothing will be worse than when that perfect occasion comes up and you have waited too long to check in on that product.

Another soul awarding thing to do this spring is to give your makeup bag a good scrub (or buy a new one). And don’t stop at the bag. Why not wipe down each of your containers. It seems tedious, even pointless, but it will be oddly satisfying.

And now is time to restock for this year’s trends. So what do 2021’s makeup trends look like?

It’s All In The Eyes

We spent nearly all of 2020 at home in sweatpants. And when we went out, we had to hide most of our faces behind a mask, so it should come as no surprise that 2021’s makeup trends focus on the eyes. We will likely spend much of 2021 behind a mask, so show off those eyes!

And a fun and fairly simple way to do that is fake eyelashes. Be sure to apply mascara to your real eyelashes to ensure the falsies stick nicely!

Eyeshadow and eyeliner are another way to talk to the world behind your mask. Expressive and creative eyes have been trending all year. Basically, check out YouTube to find the perfect tutorial for you. Or sit in front of your mirror and play around for a while. The possibilities are endless.

Shop Small

The pandemic changed much of how we interacted with the world. One thing it really had us focused on is supporting small and local businesses. When the pandemic hit, there was loss everywhere around us. We lost loved ones, loved businesses and opportunities. After a few months, these losses spawned the realization that we needed to support our communities.

People took to social media highlighting small businesses in their communities. Lists were created to feature women-owned and minority-owned businesses. We watched billionaires get richer as our neighbors suffered loss, and we did something about it.

The shopping small trend is not going anywhere. In fact, during the pandemic, there was a significant increase in micro-businesses, and many are in the beauty business, just like Eunre!
